I will have to go for Chicago, just because the high temperatures during summer are comfy for outdoor swimming!

I would say that Stockholm has a great weather. The city has a humid continental climate which is found in Midwestern United States, Prairie Provinces in Canada, Northern Japan and central Europe like Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Austria and parts of Germany. It is quite an extra-ordinary that Stockholm, a city that is almost has high as Anchorage has such climate. Because of the Gulf-Stream - only the very north of Sweden has an sub-arctic climate which is found in Alaska and Northern Canada. I have had the opportunity to visit both Chicago and Stockholm and I can assure you that the climate in Stockholm is pleasant during the summers. The water temperature is actually so high that it can be fairly enjoyable to swim in the Stockholm archipelago during the summers. Most winter in Stockholm is also more rainy than snowy - but the windy cold in January can be unforgiving because of its coastal location.
