Currently 22 degrees, verrrrrry light flurries. Supposed to get around 4" of snow tonight, woohoo! The rest of the forecasted week looks to be in the low to mid 30's, which is average.
Outside temperature 19°, heavy overcast, expecting temperature to warm up a little bit but then dropped real low tonight and about 2 inches of snow and then turning to ice and lots of it.
Hi- what do you do when that really cold comes in? Do you have your car plugged in so you can run errands? Do you spend a lot of time at home instead of going to a mall or anything? I'm sorry if I sound clueless, I'm just curious.

Leigh, I had surgery a bit over 6 weeks ago so I didn't have to be out in the cold too much this winter until now. But that's rare. I work full time and unfortunately, I need to be out and about in the elements throughout my workday, or should I say work -evening. Of course, I don't shingle roofs or erect buildings or anything so I'm not out in it for my entire work day.
So far my car has started all winter long and it isn't in a garage. When the actual temps hit about 30 below, we always plug our vehicles in. We usually take the extra money and buy batteries so they're usually fairly new. We also get the car winterized (anti-freeze, spark plugs, different oil, etc) just before winter.
The only place I make an effort to be during a cold spell is at work. Shopping or going to the store come last on my list. It's not really an odd question cause I'm guessing you've always lived where it's warm. The Dakota's forums have a lot of questions about living life in the cold. I'll venture to guess that Mn. and Mont. and others do, too.
Nameless, I noticed that it's been a bit chilly down there the past couple of days. Didn't it just rain in the Tulsa area yesterday? Actually, I'm kind of disappointed that the OK winters get as cold as they do and that they have as much snow and ice as they have. Don't get me wrong~it really is much colder up here. But we really like OK and it would be the perfect spot for us, but I wish it'd be warmer.
We're at least heading in the right direction. It's 8 above with a windchill of minus 9 right now. It's better then the 29 below windchill we had Tues.
The temp is 37 and falling. We are under a winter weather advisory. Currently, it is raining, sleeting and hailing all at the same time; as well as thundering and lightning. Go figure. Never have seen this here before. Who knows what we will end up with. sigh. And I need to go to the store for milk. LOL
77 and overcast here at 3:30, looks like the tail end of the front that has been giving y'all snow up north is going to give us some more rain. This is the rainest dry season we have had in awhile. DH, who is a native Floridian, says this makes him a bit nervous, as a rainy dry season can portend an active hurricane season. The weather did the same thing in '04, and we had a rough ride that summer!
37F and light rain, it was 21 this morning and it warmes up to 44 and it has gone back down to 37.
