When does it usually start warming up this time of the year in the southern hemisphere? I heard it can get very warm or hot in December, which is something us folks in the northern hemisphere don't normally associate with this time of the year; It's tough to imagine Christmas and 100 degrees F outside, even in the southwestern desert regions of the United States!

It was a balmy 12 degrees when we got up this morning. With windchill, it was a temp of 3!!! EWWWW, I'm ready for summer again.

BUT I was absolutely shocked to see some of the areas that aren't having a nice Thanksgiving Day. Snow and sleet in Tx.

Is it over in your area now? I was thinking about a couple of you guys who live in that area while they were showing Tx. They kept showing off and on where it was and that it was headed right for the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Isn't that sort of unusual? I thought snow was fairly rare for you guys.

It's not rare for DFW since it's in North Texas...we get 1-2 snow or ice storm episodes yearly..it would be rare for Houston or San Antonio...I moved back to this area in 2000 and my suburban north city (I'm 35 miles north of downtown Dallas and roughly about the same distance south of the Oklahoma state line) has had snow and ice every year since I moved here. This is a huge area so while I may be getting it up here, a good friend of mine southwest of downtown Dallas sometimes won't see as much or will only see a cold rain.

It's only a very light snow here now, sometimes switching to light rain...just to the west though about 125 miles or so, they're getting 3-6 inches of snow!!

Right now (17:30 CST) in Houston: 11 °C. It's getting darker now. It has been around the low-teens today.

December is the first month with proper, reliable summer weather. It is for some reason NEVER 100f on Christmas, but rather always cold and gloomy.
