Why don't you move if you don't like cold weather?
Cannot speak for anybody else, but personally I don't like the cold either. The irony of that is found in the simple fact I love living in the North. Right now I am in Northern Maine, but was raised in Northern Michigan. I put up with the cold bitter winter temps just for the glorious Summers we get in the Northern part of the country. Cool crisp mornings, and daytime temps that never force you inside to the cool haven of the AC unit. I prefer temps in the Summers to be mid to high 70's, and sleep like a rock with the temps in the mid 50's to 60's. Sunny days, warm wind, clear air, crystal clear water, and the natural sent of pine in the air. I can live with a few months of cold for those reasons, and I suspect that is the reason most people live in the North. I tried the whole Southern living for a couple of years and frankly the heat about killed me down there. The winters were nice, but the Summers were miserable for me.
Right now it is about -10 here in Washburn, Maine and is supposed to get up into the mid 20's tomorrow.
hahahaha 70 is the best temperature. You should go to Alaska
lol in May (our May) it is very nice. In January, it is bloody cold.

Oh that's interesting. DIdn't realise they get snow there. But I would'nt care, as it's constantly above 90 with clear skies like 4 months of the year

Those ****ing cool crisp mornings are exactly what I hate about summer here. FOrecast says a whole week of mid-high 50's nights on top of the 2 weeks of that **** we just endured. It's just too cold. Ridiculous.
What about San Francisco or San Jose? Santa Cruz, Monterey?
Eugene, OR, Denver, Charlotte, NC?
All have too many people. Not really a people person. Plus I just like the attitude of the people and the friendliness. It is almost like everybody has to make it through the winter, so there is just a friendly atmosphere towards each other during the year. Kind of hard to explain over the internet, it is something you really have to live. Been all over the country, and to all the places you mentioned, but still find myself drawn to the North for some reason. I liked Truckee, CA and didn't mind a little coastal town north of San Francisco (I think it was Mendocino or something like that), but the pace of life was too rush-rush for me even in those places.
When we leave here this Summer, we are going back to West Michigan where some of the best beaches can be found (nothing against the great beaches you have in CA) and the Summers are the best. Cost of living is cheap compared to either coast, and the wages are higher than the East coast.
gonna be 57 tomorrow. sigh i hate it when it heats up so early in the year...id rather be somewhere it stays cold for more often then a month or two...and before someone says, *points to loc*
Why don't you move if you don't like cold weather?
58* and cloudy.
Thunderstorm warning in effect. Doesn't that mean more tornadoes possible?
I'm not sure who this question is for, but I'll answer it anyway. I am hoping to move further south in the future. DH and I were both born here and until a few years ago, our parents and other family members were here. We wanted to live near family. Since the situation is changed, we've been talking about moving. It's been nearly four years that we've traveled a bit looking for the right spot. DH was nearing semi-retirement age so it has just not been a good time to pick up stakes and move and start work elsewhere. He's almost there now, but isn't convinced that he wants to relocate. I definitely want to, but won't force him to move some place that he doesn't want to live. So basically it isn't because it's a lone decision to be made.
I don't only despise the cold like I have always done, but I have health problems that are worsened by cold weather so that makes it twice as bad.
It's supposed to hit the low 50s here today and then like Marmac said, we'll be back in the freezer again.
