Anyway, I'm too busy to post current observations.. but I am here to say that I am getting ready to go down to Brownsville to chase what will be Hurricane Dolly.
Current thinking is that she'll make landfall near Brownsville tomorrow afternoon as a Category 1 or 2 Hurricane.
We'll of course be careful, but I have today and tomorrow off and Brownsville is only 4 hours away. Too good of an opportunity to miss!
Current forecast for Brownsville (National Weather Service):
Wednesday: Hurricane conditions expected. Cloudy, with a high near 85. North wind 60 to 80 mph becoming south 65 to 85 mph. Winds could gust as high as 115 mph.
Finally cooled down in Chicagoland after a week of high-ish temps and high humidities. Today is only supposed to reach 76 degrees with drier air, it feels awesome. Oh, sunny too.

BRING ON THE HEAT!!!!!
BRING ON THE RAIN!!!!!
Still pretty hot over portions of our area for today as high temperatures will reach into the middle 90's to lower 100's. The heat index over portions of our are will reach up to 103 to 108. So, thus we still have a "Heat Advisory" in effect for most of Mississippi for today. Gradually, today through the next several days we will see some chances for some scattered showers and thunderstorms move back into our world of weather. Some of the storms this afternoon and evening will have the potential to produce some strong winds and hail. So a few of the storms may become severe at times. All of these chances for rain and storms will be due to a backdoor cool front that will move into our area from our north and northeast. This cool front will also cool off our high heat. We will be brought back down into the upper 80's to middle 90's for highs after today. More or less a little more to where we should be in high temperatures this time of year.
Steve, did you get any of the storms that went through Illinois either Sunday night or Monday? That is so sad with the family that had pitched their tents.
Anthony, as scary as it sounds~I wish I could join you. It'd be exciting to see a low category hurricane. I've been watching the progress all morning. It looks like the rain should be hitting soon if it hasn't already. Stay safe though. We need you here.
It's 82/heat index 82 and we're heading for about 86 today. Dewpoint~58 and Humidity~43 so it's very comfy here.
Yesterday we hit 86~Avg. is 87 so we're right on target. Yesterday's record high was 114 in 1934 and the record low was 44 back in 1947.
