Saw your comment but I wanted to see what a Miamian's opinion was on the subject since he didn't respond to the thread until I specified. I wanted to know if he thought the humidity and thunderstorm in summer had more shock value than snow/cold for someone whose never dealt with weather. He called it the same as the majority; snow would have the biggest shock value.
I go for Chicago in the winter too, for obvious reasons.
However, I think Miami in the summer is being overlooked, especially the scenario involving thunderstorms. I've read plenty of times pieces of news from Peruvians newspapers in which it is said the government/meteorological agencies called the population (including some people apparently pannicked) to calm down after some thunders were heard or lightnings were seen.
Maybe it's mostly the typical media exaggeration, but reading such news was weird.
Then again, if you've never experienced a good noisy flashy thunderstorm. Hearing the bombs at night while the sky gets illuminated and lot of rain falls might be scary.
maybe phoenix, the LA option is dumb, how would they be shocked that it is in the 80s in LA in may, when their hottest month is a little lower than that (80), and the celebrities part is crazy, ive twice in my whole life seen a celebrity.
Maybe a -50 degree day in Montana would shock them more
