How bad do you think winter will be this year in your area.
I feel that NJ is going to be bashed with very cold weather this year with a couple of nights below 0 F , although forecasters are saying the exact opposite will take place. On the bright side, I feel that it will also be very dry, and there will be absolutley no snowfall.
I don't know, it seems like every 10 years or so the winters here get extreme, so I'm already not looking forward to this winter, not that I ever do though.
Lowest minimum temperatures at JFK:
January 1985: -2F (all time record low)
January 1994: 0F
January 2004: 1F
January 2014: ??
Southern Great Lakes: Oct - Nov wil be colder then normal on average with some near record cold at times and some big snow squalls here and there in the lee of the lakes (especially upstate NY and possibly Buffalo). Snow flurries will fly earlier then normal in many areas (early to mid Oct) and although snow storms will be poorly organized and remain well to the south in Nov, there is the possibility of a rogue snow storm moving through the Lake Erie basin in late Nov to early Dec. Thereafter, temps will gradually edge up to near normal, making Jan and Feb just about normal tempwise and little in the way of snow (lower then normal precip). Spring arrives on schedule (no setbacks this time around) . Tornado season 2014 for this area will be a boring flop. I don't see much of anything significant happening in that regard. Many parts of southern Michigan will have near record low snowfall this winter, most especially near Midland, Lansing and Flint. Further southeast, however, may make up the difference in that late Nov storm - if it occurs that is.
I thought we all agreed that NI doesn't get a winter?
