Finding this sort of information for the entire United States would be a daunting task, so I'll just do my state.
New York, 2013 (so far):
Minimum Low: -35.6°C (-32°F) at Lake Placid
Maximum Low: 30.0°C (86°F) at New York City
Minimum High: -20.0°C (-4°F) at Lake Placid
Maximum High: 37.8°C (100°F) at New York City
*I only used official stations, I have no doubts that there have been warmer (interior NYC, etc.) and cooler (Mt. Marcy, etc.) temperatures in the areas in between.
The max/min lows have a spread of 119°F / 66°C (), I find that quite impressive considering New York isn't one of the larger states.
I would've liked to do more years but searching through dozens of stations is just a lot, I wish the information was readily available, but it isn't.
