Current temps and radar down south. Hope they were prepared.

Those are reports of 1/2" accumulation of sleet. And 1-3" of snow. Mobile, Alabama reporting snow too

And I wonder how warm the Gulf waters are.

Some heavier radar returns are moving into Alabama and Florida and it's showing up as snow. There's no ground verification of snow in Florida as yet. With radar returns like what I'm seeing north of Pensacola, though, I'm sure someone in that area is seeing flakes fly.

Re-posting... I’m a little perplexed why the Media and even the National Weather Service failed to mention that these stations have entered the Top 10 biggest 1 day January snowfall on record the other day. No graph, no mention. (at least not that I'm aware of) Meanwhile if it was a heatwave in the Top 20 right away its mentioned. Give me a break!!!

And 5 of these 6 are with 1 NWS Office.

January 21, 2014 Snowstorm was

Philly 3rd Largest 1 day January snowfall since 1884
Islip 4th largest since 1984
LaGuardia NY 7th largest since 1945
Kennedy NY 8th largest since 1948
NYC tied for 6th largest since 1890
Newark, NJ tied for 5th largest since 1931

Source for Philly: National Weather Service Climate

There's not much coverage of the big Gulf Coast/possibly Florida snow, either, but then again they always drop the ball during surprise events, hot or cold, with the notable exception of surprise heavy rain/flooding .

Meanwhile, I just noticed that southern Alabama is under a Red Flag Warning for later today, the same areas that the snow is streaming into now . Snow and Red Flag Warnings don't usually go together.

It snowed much of the night in Alexandria, LA coming to an end between 7 and 8 am. According to weather.com, Alexandria has had 3.9 inches of snow, which would be the most since 1973. There was about 3 inches back in 2010.

The snow that fell here seems powdery, unlike the snow that fell in 2010 which was more slushy.

Wow that's crazy the Central Louisiana got a nice snow today, I'm very jealous of you guys. Did schools stay open?

NWS calling for snow, freezing rain, sleet, and rain Tuesday night with a low of 24 F here, TWC also calling for a wintry mix Tuesday night and Wednesday here.
