That was my reasoning as well for Rio. Plus, the average highs in Nairobi, while comfortable, aren't warm enough. I do prefer Nairobi's precipitation pattern though.

I would give a slight edge to Nairobi due to 20% more sunshine hours. Both look very good overall though.

Rio. Nairobi has a nice climate, but it's more like year-round spring, and the nights are too chilly. Rio has very lovely winter months, but the rest of the year is absolutely perfect: warm enough to be summer, but not too hot. Nighttime lows are pleasant all year long. Not to mention Rio's beautiful beaches and the sea breeze off the Atlantic Ocean. So Rio won for me.
