That is YOUR opinion, not everyone's. I wish people would stop passing on their opinion as if everyone shares it. A British winter is far more bleak then a winter in the Mid-Atlantic, and I an assure you I never get 'sick of it'. The only thing I get sick of, is the lack of permanent snow cover.
I personally love to wake up on a sunny, cold morning with the trees coated in thick frost and a few inches of snow on the ground. Winter is cold, Miami has no winter, it has summer, all year.
Of course it is my opinion. I said "personally". Lighten up. I'm not gonna bother declaring everytime I post about weather that it is "my opinion". That would appear pretty obvious by the nature of this forum. You seem like you have a chip on your shoulder about your frigid weather preferences.
Am curious if you have ever spent a winter where temps struggle to get out of the 30's in January. Day in and day out with those temps wears you down. Not to mention the bleak landscape with all the leafless trees. Maybe as a kid it is fun with snow, but not when you have to trudge to work thru it. Then you get hit with a two week period almost every winter where temps struggle to get above freezing. By the end of February personally I've had it, and I then crave sun and warmth. But when you get lucky enough to hop on a plane and land in a place like Miami in January I find it amazing. You hear the wind thru the palm trees, the sun, the air feels so warm even though it might only be 75F. I don't think winter is overrated in S. Florida after you've put up with our winter.
I have lived in other states. Lived in TN and North GA for a bit, and when I lived in both locales I still wished it was colder, so you can imagine that I wouldn't do too bad in a more northern climate.
Temps in the 30s really aren't much to write home about. All I need in those temps is a hoodie and a tshirt underneath with sweatpants and I'll be fine.
Having a winter at 75F isn't much relief after having months and months of heat and humidity. When you step out late at night in late November and it's still muggy outside with mosquitoes and gnats flying around, it really isn't hard to see why people would get tired of the heat living down here.
Winters in Philly really aren't anything to write home about, sure you guys do get the occasional big storm, big average highs in the upper 30s/low 40s in winter really isn't bad at all. In fact, if I lived in Philly one of the biggest gripes I would have would be that it doesn't get cold enough in winter, and your summers are still quite muggy. It's not too different from TN.

This precisely my attitude towards winter. I'm ok with (and sometimes even enjoy) snow and cold around the holidays and maybe a few weeks after that. But by around late January/early February I usually start to really miss warm weather. Bulky clothing, numb fingers, runny nose, chapped lips - they are not the biggest problems in the world but they do, like you said, wear you down day in and day out. Being able to relax outside with minimal clothing is just nice after a cold winter.

By Dec you will be wishing it was July!
Last year was really bad because we had one warm day of above freezing temps in Jan which made the sidewalks a skating rink for the rest of the cold winter... not fun.

I enjoyed a week of winter in the UK the two times I visited. I thought it was a good break from the cold.

Even though they're not my favorite, coming from a cold climate winter to an oceanic one can be a relevatory experience, especially in mid- to late-winter when the flowers are out!

Same here. I love oceanic climates. I was amazed to see green grass when I visited England last winter. I'm not a big fan of snow and ice, but I appreciate cooler, but not cold, winters

Yea, that was one of the things I liked. A bit of a mood booster. If English winters were 5°-10°F warmer than they are now, I would prefer it over my winters without any hesitation.
