D-, only not an F+ because it's Friday and I'm in a good mood...are you sure those summer highs are right btw? Surely it has been higher than 98F in Paris - when I was in France in August 2003 almost the whole country apart from Normandy/Brittany was above that - I thought the record was 105 or so?

Yup, that's what I was thinking. Paris-Orly recorded 40.0°C in August 2003, while Paris-Montsouris saw a nighttime low of 25.5°C the same month, viz :

Meteociel - Climatologie mensuelle de Orly

Meteociel - Climatologie mensuelle de Paris - Montsouris

FYI, Paris' record highs

Jan : 16.1°C (Jan 5, 1999) - highest low 13.7°C (Jan 18, 2007)
Feb : 21.4°C (Feb 28, 1960) - highest low 12.5°C (Feb 19, 1989)
Mar : 25.7°C (Mar 25, 1955) - highest low 15.4°C (Mar 11, 1981)
Apr : 30.2°C (Apr 18, 1949) - highest low 16.1°C (Apr 29, 1987)
May : 34.8°C (May 29, 1944) - highest low 20.5°C (May 28, 2005)
Jun : 37.6°C (Jun 28, 1947) - highest low 23.4°C (Jun 29, 1976)
Jul : 40.4°C (Jul 28, 1947) - highest low 24°C (Jul 4, 1976)
Aug : 39.5°C (Aug 11, 2003) - highest low 25.5°C (Aug 11 & 12, 2003)
Sep : 36.2°C (Sep 7, 1895) - highest low 19.8°C (Sep 4, 2006)
Oct : 28.9°C (Oct 1, 2011 - two weeks ago !) - highest low 18.3°C (Oct 3, 1985)
Nov : 21°C (Nov 2, 1899) - highest low 15.4°C (Nov 4, 2010)
Dec : 17.1°C (Dec 16, 1989) - highest low 14°C (Dec 11, 1961 - not bad!)

On this, you are making record highs averages.
That means virtually every day in summer is hitting the Farenheit century.
Would rate this a C-, as the cooler months are pleasant.
Most record high minimums are still fairly tame.

I'm afraid not, the summer days are quite sunny and convection is hindered by the dryness. T-storms would be local yet rather violent. Only half a dozen days would have a proper stormy front passing by.

No, I made an average with all the daily records. Like dhdh posted, the record highs are abit higher (105 in July to 61 in January). Though from 59 to 61 the difference is little, the warm records are very steady in the winter season. So yes it hasn't made it to 62 in January since 1873 in Paris. I'm won't complain about this.

Its also not uncommon to reach 25 celsius every June or July a couple of days.
With this record highs, BA seems like Singapore or something.
Comparing it to Paris, cant believe the diference.

January: 43.3(109.9)
February: 38.7(101.7)
March: 37.9(100.2)
April: 36.0(96.8)
May: 31.6(88.9)
June: 28.5(83.3)
July: 30.2(86.4)
August: 34.4(93.9)
September: 34(93)
October: 34(93)
November: 36.8(98.2)
December: 40.5(104.9)

Your Nov, Dec and especially Feb record highs seem suprisingly low. Also interesting to note that August has had a hotter record than September and October.

Here's Melbourne for comparison: (celcius / Farhenheit)

Jan: 45.6 / 114
Feb: 46.4 / 116
Mar: 41.7 / 107
Apr: 34.9 / 95
May: 28.7 / 84
Jun: 22.4 / 72
Jul: 23.1 / 73
Aug: 26.5 / 80
Sep: 31.4 / 89
Oct: 36.9 / 98
Nov: 40.9 / 105
Dec: 43.7 / 111

Paris has an oceanic climate, why is it so surprising that it has never exceeded 15C there in January when that is a typical October value..

Isn't Melbourne unusually prone to summer heat waves, especially compared to their mild summers?
