This time of year on the west coast has always been prone to have unstable weather.
Yesterday it snowed big chunks really hard where I am, we then had warmish 40 degree weather long long after that.
This morning it’s wet, grey and just under 40 degrees.

Slate gray skies, an inch and a half of sloppy wet snow which is still coming down and near freezing temps make it hard to stay warm out there because you get soaking wet and then frozen.

This morning was really nice.
I went out to my usual stomping grounds.
So nice I even started a bbq.
This weather has been so unstable I thought I’d get it while the gettin was good .

Woke up to snow and icy roads but it melted and it looks like that's the last of the snow for this week.

We had a nice sun and clouds mixture today to start out the month of March. It was a great day for a paddle on the Columbia as well with no wind.

Rain, Hail, clouds and sun today. I like it when the sun comes out in the afternoon like this to enjoy it after work. In a couple weeks we'll have more daylight in evenings with daylight savings.

We are still sunless and gray. Where are those sunbreaks when you need them.

Edited to add- we have this thing called a convergence zone that causes clouds, locally heavy snow or rain etc. when one sets up, and the area around Snohomish County is known for them.

As I was on one walk enjoying my moment in the sun, I called my retired friend who is vacationing in Florida with his wife. He's was going on about swimming and golfing in the warm sun. Temps have been in the 70s/80s. Prior to this trip, he was planning to buy his dream retirement home in ID and sunbird to FL during winter. Now, he and his wife are enjoying it so much, they've decided to do the the opposite. They now plan to buy in FL as their primary residence and then 'sunbird' up during summer.

Speaking of sunbreaks, we're finally heading for a winter warm-up down south where hopefully we'll dry out some. Although they've been getting snow even at lower elevations of Cal this winter including the beach. Here's a recent shot of Santa Cruz with snow.

Yes! I actually discovered that convergence zone while doing my initial research in looking for places to live in the PNW. Everything looked wonderful up there until.... I found that out and began reading more about the dreaded convergence zone. That was part of my obsessive researching that payed off in hindsight. Once I showed that convergence pattern to my wife, it was a hard pass! And we had relatives who lived in Everett at the time. They subsequently moved back to CA after ~ 15 years in the area. The husband retired from Boeing. I think that move south had more to do with grandkids. But I have a feeling they don't mind the warmup either.
