I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the sun again forecasted next week. Unlike winter, at least in Vancouver, we haven't been getting the sun breaks lately. With a business trip coming up in a week and a second trip right after, both to more southern states, I'm also looking forward to warmer spring weather.

That second snowbird home isn't sounding so bad right now after this past winter followed by a colder than usual spring.

Half of America wants to live in Southern California for a reason. I am one of them.

I was born and raised there. So, I know it very well. Most of our family is in San Diego. After living there for decades, it was time for us to move on. But I can see why people from all over the world still want to live there. Hence the huge crowds and very expensive real estate. But yes, the weather is near perfect at least compared to the rest of the nation.

Our favorite climate is actually the Central CA coast from San Luis Obispo to Monterey. We prefer it over SoCal. Its less crowded as well and more scenic. While living in Monterey, we met Washingtonians who moved there because of the better weather. Some swore they would never return. So, they thought it a bit crazy we were moving north. lol

Here's a pic from my last visit to Big Sur in early March after a long, cold winter here in the PNW. There's a reason its so expensive down there. But for some its worth the price of admission. For us its still a great place to warm up and dry out.

Thanks for the insight. I have my sights on an area more mundane. I like Chula Vista. Seems like its in between everything you need. Been there a few times and so convenient. Mexico is down the street and San Diego is up the street. I always liked living near the border, has it perks.

Chula Vista is fine with great access to warmer beaches, SD and Mexico. Housing is the toughest thing right now. If you can find a place, there's a lot to see and enjoy including excellent authentic Mexican food.

Gig Harbor is a beautiful location with views of Mt. Rainier over the water. You don't get those kinds of views in SD. As for winter and the cold, yes, I wonder if I'll ever get used to it. After four years here, I think its more of just accepting it for what it is, for better or worse. Then learning to deal with those things in various ways. I don't know if I'll ever embrace the cold as in 'enjoy it.' Who likes freezing, cold water vs. wearing shorts and warmer temps during winter? But it helps to have the right gear for those conditions. Still, with so much rain and cold this winter, taking sun breaks down south are a great reprieve along with staying active as you mentioned. Looking out at the rain today is not particularly inspiring. I'm ready for a spring warmup by now. It's looking like Thursday may dry out a bit. I guess we'll see...

Grey, gloomy and a bit foggy this morning.
Seeing the locals run around this morning makes it worthwhile to me.
