I have been stationed here in ft lewis wa for over a year and will be getting out as of the 27th of december, I am looking for a place to live that has more sunshine and more county living versus the city; as I am planning on making WA state my home, If anyone has any good ideas please let me know I dont have much time left.

best let us know a few top priorities
Climate - mountains vs prairie Cold vs hot
proximity to civilization (commute needs / access to VA healthcare / airports / school / shopping...) 30 minutes drive ok, or is 4 hrs drive ok??
employment needs
hobbies (ski vs, gardening / hunting or fishing (lakes or rivers) )
Social leanings (conservative vs. lib - farm vs logging)
Proximity to: BC / Alberta (skiing / camping ), or to Oregon (no sales tax) or to Idaho, (more outdoor recreation)
I could recommend from Colville / Kettle Falls to Bridegport to Washtucna to Goldendale or Troutlake and many more.
(all are very different)

How big of a town you want ? (walmart vs minute mart) Some towns do not have so much as a stoplight, gas station, or library

Washington....she said "country living".

If she wants a larger community I would pick Starbuck or Waitsburg. Starbuck would get my vote for the fishing.

Just for the record. Eastern Washington has more metro areas than western washington and its population is just slightly more urban than western washington.

Those old myths die hard.

Wenatchee, Yakima and Pasco are all part of METRO areas!!!

Moses Lake and Grant County are doing well right now and if Boeing puts their 737 plant there it will be a boom town without waiting for more European investment.

Moses Lake is more industrial agriculture than rural living.

For eastern WA they may be, but they are still country living. The question was for "more county living versus the city" and those are not what i would consider city living though they are cities.

If the OP wants to be really out in the country then look at Oakesdale.
