Hello

I am currently looking at relocating cities w/ a friend. Right now, we are trying to decide between Chi, Bos and DC. We are looking to spend roughly $2,000 for a 2 bedroom. We have had lots of luck finding apts in Boston (Fenway, South End) and Chicago (Lakeview, Lincoln Park), but we just can't find anything in comparable DC neighborhoods.

We are looking at the areas around Dupont Circle (maybe 16th to the east and u to the north), but we can't find anything in our price range.

Does anybody have any suggestions? In Chi and Bos we found a lot housing options in smaller old buildings and broken up row houses. We would be happy with something similar in DC. We just aren't having any luck with CL.

Thanks for any advice

Thanks for any suggestions.

Dupont is one of the more popular areas in DC (and thus one of the most expensive). This city is also known for its pricey real estate, much more so than Chicago or Boston. On your budget, try looking at other areas in DC. You might be able to nab something in Cleveland Park. It's safe, beautiful, and 2 Metro stops (5 min.) from Dupont. It is unlikely that you will find a two bedroom in your price range in Dupont. You might also want to look in Petworth, which isn't far from U St. by bike or Metro.

Thanks for your suggestions. I was afraid that we weren't going to be able to find anything in our price range. We had looked at Cleveland Park and Capitol Hill. They are both great areas, but coming from a smaller city we are looking for more of a "big city" vibe. I think we are pretty well set on looking exclusively at lively intown neighborhoods. I guess we are going to end up going with either Chicago or Boston.

I had a blast last time I was in DC, but without a particular attachment to the city it seems hard to justify the COL. The other two seem like a better value for the money.

Although coming from near Buffalo, DC's winters would be nice.

Thanks again for your help!
