My wife and I are moving to DC in August. We're looking for an apartment within walking distance of the Crystal City or Pentagon City metro stops (I'll be working in downtown DC--Archives stop). Further south on the yellow line is also a possibility. Our other priorities are as follows:

(1) Rent of $1800 or less for a 1-bedroom apartment
(2) Allows pets (2 cats)
(3) Has parking (1 car)

Any suggestions about specific apartment complexes that people have experienced would be welcome. Thanks!

I looked at Post Pentagon Row and it was really nice. It was $2300 for a 2-bedroom, so I guess a 1-bedroom would be in your range. Otherwise, there's a ton of buildings around there. A lot of people I know live/lived in River House and loved it. I wasn't that impressed, but most people I know enjoyed their experience.

On Eads St you have Crystal Towers, next door is Crystal House. On Fern St is Lofts 590 and the Gramercy at Metropolitan Park (just opened). In Pentagon City you also have the River House complex on Joyce St.

I'd start with Crystal Towers, Crystal House, and River House. These are older developments which tend to have larger square footage and better prices. Good luck with your search.
