I am considering relocating from NJ to the DC area for a job in Bethesda, MD. I am a single professional guy in my late 20's and don't know anyone in the area so I'm looking for a place to live which isn't too far from some type of nightlife, is safe and is easily accessible to Bethesda through the metro. Ideally I'm looking to spend no more than $1,800 a month on rent.

My first inclination was to look right in bethesda but I've been told that it's a slightly older crowd and the nightlife is a bit sparse. I've also heard alot about Adams Morgan but am not sure about how safe the area is or what type of atmosphere it has. Any other suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Rent a 1-br around the Woodley Park metro. quick reverse commute to bethesda, you can walk over to adams morgan on a weeknight (which is MUCH preferrable to being there on a weekend IMHO), the hood has its own selection of decent but not great restaurants and bars.

I lived over there for a little bit and it was kinda cool being able to go jogging each day at the national zoo since it's free and has nice quiet trails on random weekday mornings.

If you want to get a little more urbanized you could rent a place further down around Dupont circle.

NJ's close by so take a scouting trip and check out the scenery in these hoods.

Thanks for the info. What about Dupont Circle? Im finding a few things in that area that seem pretty decent.
