Well,I am a newbie on city-data.I was wondering whether the safety factor is still a concern or has it grown any better? Also, how far is it (commute-wise) to Washington Hospital Center? Thanks!
Less than a 5 minute car ride from CH to the WHC. On a pleasant day, it's a nice 15-20 minute walk.
I will being living a block away from the Metro in one of the condos on Columbia Heights. I've visited the area the during the day and it doesn't seem to bad. I am also not that detered from living in the area since I've grown up in the Jersey City area and go to school in Philadelphia.
I don't expect much trouble during business rush hours (like going and coming from work), but how is the area during the week nights, around 9pm and later). Is it safe to come out of the subway station past 12am or would it safer to just take a taxi directly to my apartment during the later hours?
Also, is alright to walk to the bars on 11th street during the early evening (6pm-9pm)?
