Just curious. Seems construction is starting to pick up in the close in suburbs Arlington and Silver Spring.

But, I'm not aware of anything actually being built in Bethesda? I know there are plans for a few new projects? But is there anything actually in the ground?

I think they're building apartments/condos up on Wisconsin.

Wasn't there a proposal to build a building directly atop the metro, where there is a now an open plaza? I see too the Safeway is being rebuilt into a more "urban" style like the one in Georgetown. Does that count?

Plenty of juicy renderings here:
DCmud - The Urban Real Estate Digest of Washington DC: Bethesda

There's a general lack of cranes on the ground everywhere. To be under construction now means that you'd have received financing in 2009-2010 (or already have had money then), when cash was awfully scarce. Banks have gotten less shy, particularly about apartments and sometimes offices, and so some cranes are starting to appear.

Not all construction requires cranes.
