Considering move into apt located on 13th street right next to the U Street metro. Have any thoughts about safety of the area? Is it loud with all the partying on U Street?

thanks

Yes, it is loud. U Street is one of the most popular areas for nightlife in DC, and the intersection of 13th and U--near the Metro entrance--is practically the epicenter, particularly Thursdays - Saturdays. Some people thrive on that environment, but it's not going to be quiet and peaceful.

If you are in your 20s or even early 30s, consider yourself lucky if you like to socialize or party. That is a prime spot for activity.

I live on U Street. On a Saturday night, you're going to hear people yelling/talking loudly, sirens and idiots on motorcycles. It doesn't really bother me. I'm totally used to it. But I do have ear plugs in case. I also don't even go out or party so I don't get to take full advantage of being by all the nightlife. But you're near every sort of shop, place to eat, metro station, etc. so it's a convenient area. I live closer to 18th than you though, so I feel a little safer. Heehee.
