Hello,

Can any of you weigh in on the 2 block area near 13th NE & Maryland? How is the vibe in the neighborhood? Is this a warzone? Can I walk to UNion Station without to many issues? Is there any pockets of concern in this area?

Thanks

This neighborhood is still changing, I wouldn't call it a war zone, but you are not far away from it. In DC, you will have a "good" block and the next block over is crime infested. My advice would be to drive through the area at night, if it is something that you can handle, go for it.

The walk to Union Station is about 10-15 minutes.

It's a border. My feeling is if you have to ask about a neighborhood like this, then you really probably don't belong. Folks live there to be sure, but many of them have roots in the community, friends, classmates, etc such that they can walk the street and folks are like 'don't mess with that guy it's so and so's cousin', etc. But for folks moving in from somewhere else you don't really have that level of street savvy about the specific blocks that are good and those that are not.

It's not the uber-war zone. I think there has been a shooting or two within a block or so in the last year, but it's not for everyone. Take a look at the DC Police crime map and assess whether the level of crime around there is something you can live with.
