Saw this in my email yesterday.

SDP-1703 WAWA (ADELPHI) A 5,619 SQUARE FOOT GAS STATION WITH A FOOD & BEVERAGE STORE 9100 RIGGS ROAD 20783
Map

This is good news. WAWA is a pretty nice convenience store and their gas prices are competitive. THere's no other gas station in that area. The closest ones are on New Hampshire Ave. past the Beltway.

When we went on trips, we would have to go beyond the Beltway to the Shell or the Exxon on New Hampshire Ave. to fill up, then go back South to get on the Beltway. Now this will give us the opportunity to fill up BEFORE we get to the Beltway.

WAWA is going in the wooded lot across the street from Popeyes. Walgreens has been buying up Rite Aides. Or it may become a CVS?

That's nice. I'm still wondering when Montgomery county will get a Wawa.

Nice idea of a pocket park for the proposed Adelphi WAWA.

The main building is your run of the mill WAWA. Nothing fancy. But I'll forgive them since they are making a neat little park area with a welcome sign.

I remember when that wooded lot had a house and horse stables (along with actual horses). I was always kinda fascinated with that house because it was pretty much hidden behind the trees and somewhat a mystery. I guess in my childhood memories, it seemed like a ritzy place among the apartment buildings.

Anyone know what's going on with the old Golden Bull parcel? Looks like there is renovation going on. New floor to ceiling windows facing Riggs RD. Starting to get a new look.

It will be interesting to see if it is still a restaurant, or a liquor store.

Well yeah. lol. I just noticed some renovation work on the old Golden Bull place. The Wawa is coming along nicely. They are wrapping up grading work. They have the sidewalks in from what I can tell. Not sure they got the gas tanks in the ground yet.

I'm not sure how long it takes to build a Wawa, but I imagine once they get the tanks in the ground, it should be just a few months for the structure itself. I'd say we're looking at a September opening?
