It's been almost 4 1/2 years since site plan approval. Why is it still not built? WaWa (and Sheetz/Royal Farms/etc. usually get those things up and running in six months from foundation to cash registers ringing.

It's built. The gas pumps are all installed. The canopy is built. Sign is up, etc. I think more work needed to be done on the store part itself. I'd imagine it will open within a few weeks. Just wondering about the Grand Opening date.

Been driving by that lot for years waiting myself. hehe

I hear the one next to Ikea has broken ground.

PS: November 10th according to this blog that has been tracking the progress.

The new Wawa at 9100 Riggs Rd in Adelphi, MD is scheduled to open on November 10. The location, which features a 5,619 square foot food and beverage store and a gas station, will be located on the Southwest corner of Adelphi Rd and Riggs Rd, just across Adelphi Rd from the existing 7-Eleven and Popeyes.

This Wawa is now officially opened. Perfect timing as I stopped driving in that direction almost completely now for the past year. hehe.

I will check it out today. I actually need to get gas.

Looks like they’re building another WaWa in College Park around IKEA. I think it’s already one up the street in Beltsville on route 1 lol.

Yep. Kinda smallish. Thought they would have put it on RT. 1 but the hotel parking lot is there. Weird they would squeeze it between both parking lots. I mean as large as Ikea's parking is, always empty in the back, I feel there could have been something worked out.

At least now people that stay in the hotel can grab snacks from Wawa which is cool.

Not in any I've seen from the ones I've been to on the entire eastern seaboard. Including downtown Philly.

It's real difficult in Maryland for businesses to get approvals for a shared parking lot even if the businesses agree to it. Strip malls are one of the few exceptions.
