I recall DC holding that honor a few decades ago even with all the Federal jobs. Seems to be doing much better now.

Hogan didn't suggest Amazon locate in the slums. Hell, Amazon is wealthy enough to buy up blocks of rowhouses in Baltimore for its employees and give them discounts on mortgages. You could transform a good chunk of Baltimore with just a $5 billion investment over 10 years. There are rowhomes going for just $40k right now. And that's a non-boarded up home. On the other hand, that pushes out local residents through gentrification.

No one wants to do the hard work of helping to turn a city around. Especially a corporation with enough cash to do it. Does Amazon even have a philanthropic arm?

Ford did it. He supplied housing for his employees. He paid them high enough wages to where they could afford to buy his cars. That community investment seems lost on corporations today who think they owe nothing to their employees or their communities even though their employees helped the company make the billions it has now.

There's no room for community involvement in a capitalist society that is skewed to help only the wealthiest of its citizens. Just look at your tax returns this year.

The year 1999 called, they want their facts back. The year 2019 also has extended an invitation to join the rest of the world today.

While driving around national harbor/oxon hill i've noticed alot of houses were being worked on, but recently the same houses have stop work orders on them. I have not really seen many of these stop work orders anywhere except in this area.

This has halted whatever improvements they were doing, but the houses were all interior work.

Recently property inspectors have been more active for some reason. Anyone know what this could mean?

It means people were jacklegging construction without permits or inspections and got caught.

About the property inspectors? Well i got a notice when i had some stuff in my backyard. My neighboor down the street also got one. And the neighboor in front of me got one.

And if you mean about the notices of stop order, i drive around the area and see this. I also do alot of running around the area and notice houses that were being worked on and notice the signs.

Is this what you were referring to?

What happens is that code enforcement is reactive most times. The code guys are driving around and see something so they stop. Then they start looking around and find more violations.

Or someone calls in a complaint which has to be looked at and the same thing happens, they start looking around and see more violations.
