Your city or county web site should post the days/hrs for trick or treating. Some don't do this but others will designate this, for example "Sunday, Oct. 31st, 6:00pm-8:30pm."

I've seen some places though where trick-or-treating is done the night before Oct. 31.

The 31st. Fairfax County, as far as I know, doesn't have any set hours. Plan on it starting when it gets dark. I don't know if the city of Falls Church as set hours.

Well I believe "Trick or Treating" is dying in a sense, is because of the society, and the way children are growing up these days... I also grew up going all over the neighborhoods I grew up in getting candy from every house I could, but now days, children are "lazy" and also there are soo many different "ethnicity's" or backgrounds around the neighbor hoods that most dont even participate due to beliefs...

We grew up going house-to-house also--everywhere we lived. When we lived in Fairfax I took my daughter house-to-house. I thought those mall or outdoor-car things were dorky and not at all conducive to Halloween. We also made our costumes. I always wondered: when I was a kid, would I have enjoyed going out with my siblings and neighbors out in our neighborhood? Or going to a mall or somewhere else that was "constructed"?

They have a Trunk n' Trick...100 safe parked cars in the back of the church, trunks full of candy...everyone is so nice...we've been to the church many times, but not regular goers there. You don't need to be a member..and it's FREE. They have a haunted house in the church...and a moon bounce...movies on the side of the church...it's great..this year it is on Halloween.... hope you come!.
I went to that site and didn't see anything about a truck or treat. do you know what day of the week it is held (like on the weekend or actual halloween day)?
