Hi,

The family and I (wife, two kids 6 and 9) are going to Berkeley Springs late this week. It looks like Friday is going to be a wash-out with rain, so we are trying to find some indoor activities in the area.

We have been to Winchester several times, normally going to the children's museum and the VA Co-op store. Is there anything else indoors there that might appeal to a family of 4? Other museums, art galleries, etc? I've done the basic google searches, so I am looking more for first hand accounts.

Martinsburg and Hagerstown are both options too, as is anything further up the valley about 30 minutes or so. So, if anyone knows about those areas, that would be helpful too.

Thanks!

WSB

I would suggest posting in the Northern Virginia forum as well for Winchester (and do a search - lots of threads on Winchester when I just did a quick search) - unfortunately, I only know of it for the outdoor things (flea market, apple blossom festival, etc.) - and Hagerstown just for the outlet mall.

From what I'm seeing Friday is just a chance of typical summer storms. But in Winchester I liked the museum of the Shenandoah Valley. https://www.themsv.org/

If the weather drives you inside and want to see a movie then we use the Alamo. Good seating and every theater has food service. Believe it or not the food there is actually pretty decent.

The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum is supposed to be pretty good but we haven't been there. Also, the historic Handley Regional Library in downtown is something to see.

Thanks for the suggestions. The hope is that if any storms come, they will be brief, but you never know. We want to make sure we have a day or so of indoor stuff on tap in case we lose an outdoor day.

It has been years since I walked in downtown Winchester. I would like to check out Old Town Winchester along Loudoun Street.

You'll likely like the improvements they've made.
