Is there something that is quintessentially Virginian? I am looking for a few small items to fill a gift basket.

Thanks!

Small items could include peanuts from the Tidewater/Suffolk region (I believe Virginia Diner is a well-known name), blue crab items, such as she-crab soup in a can, crab-seasoned/flavored nuts and chips (Chesapeake Bay area), stone-ground pancake mixes, maple syrup from Highland County, apple cider and apple butter, and jams & jellies. Hope that helps...

IF your friend is into alcoholic beverages, i would suggest a Virginia hard apple cider. You can't go wrong with anything apple related in Virginia.

Foggy Ridge Cider
Foggy Ridge Cider: Welcome

Albemarle CiderWorks
Vintage Virginia Apples

Plus, there are almost 200 wineries in Virginia and a few good microbreweries.

Try this Virginia?s Finest Foods, Gourmet Peanuts, Gifts, and Wine in Charlottesville, Warrenton, and Stanardsville for tons of stuff about Virginia. They also have a store in Charlottesville -- Barracks Road Shopping Center.
