Good luck finding a job in Vermont.
Better luck living on the $10 an hour you're going to make if you're "lucky" enough to find one.

Take a deep breath, relax, calming breaths- now pay attention to what people say about jobs in VT. We are a very polarized lot but one thing we agree on is that opportunities and wages are lacking in VT. Now back to your regular scheduled program.

Yes, it's true that it is extremely difficult to find a job in Vermont. I'm a student and it was almost impossible for me to find a minimum wage job just for the summer. I ended up dressing up and 'pounding the pavement,' knocking on the doors of every business I knew in the area between Rutland and Middlebury. However you CAN get a job.

1. Start EARLY. I can't stress this enough. Don't give up. Be aggressive and persistent. Use every website, newspaper, and local magazine you can.
2. If you don't live in VT yet absolutely do not move until you have a job lined up.
3. Do be flexible in your choices. Brandon and Rutland is fairly specific, would you mind working within a 50 mile radius of these towns? Or perhaps would you consider a different but related job?
4. It's true what others say about wages, you might have to make sacrifices in this department.

I don't mean to be overly negative about Vermont- I'm a native and I love the place. But do be cautious when starting your search. This certainly doesn't mean listen to the naysayers and give up the search before you've begun, but be prepared for an uphill climb and keep your chin up. I wish you the best of luck on your search.

Does CNA mean nursing? The hospital in Rutland employs many people, as do various medical facilities in Rutland County.

CNA's in other states are referred to as LNA's here in VT. A great job resource in VT is JobsInVT.com

Good luck!
