Whoops! You're right, of course. My sister's property backs up to the Connecticut River, and as soon as we left her place, we crossed the river (into NH) and headed north. Why I thought we stayed on the VT side of the river is beyond me. I'll chalk it up to trying to do too many things too early in the morning.

And you're right again - it is pretty.

Thanks, I understand that part as well.
The weather helped this year, rains followed by sun, back and forth. I really can't take much credit since I didn't do anything.

Lewis Pond (a very brief trip, that bad storm was coming over the mountains as I was there, so I didn't get to the mountains to get the nice view from there).

Some very interesting plants:

I wish I was there when this one was blooming:

As the sign from the Mollie Beattie Bog boardwalk says, sedges (bog sedge, quite rare in this state):

A sampling of the vast bogs of Lewis:

First off this is my first post in the VT forum. I retired in 09 from 30 years in LE and did a retirement motorcycle ride thru New England and loved VT. Here are a few of my favorite pics. BTW. Here's to hoping all are well after Irene.

I can't recall where this was in Vermont but I loved the old rail car.

This pic was taken in the area of Hancock. The greenery really struck me as beautiful here.

I was riding along in a heavily wooded area and caught a glimpse of this waterfall. I had to turn around and get some pics of it.

Beautiful pictures! I was in Vermont last week and was an awesome drive going from Burlington to northern NY. If only it hadn't been raining!
