When the sky shows up washed out like it does in the WWB photo, try a slower shutter speed, a smaller aperture, or bracketing photos if your camera will allow. Exposure bracketing allows for one underexposed picture, one correct exposure, and one overexposed picture. It's very difficult to correctly meter the sky and the foreground, and bracketing really helps.
