^Good point, I notice this.
How warm it gets, for how long (# of daylight/sunlight hours) is just as much a factor as the low nighttime temps.
Yeah, when we had that toasty spell for couple weeks I was leaving curtains open because I knew the heat wouldn't last long and would be appreciated during cooler longer nights.
Thursday (2 days ago) was still muggy feeling, in the 70s but very humid-what a contrast compared to Friday onwards, in the low 60s during day and shiver-inducing nights.
Forecast for Sun. night shows it near freezing, down in the 30s.
Adjustments between seasons are tough for me, despite fact that I do enjoy having all four distinct seasons-it's just the changing/transition phase I find challenging.

Rain passing through. Almost every

4:10pm temps and radar.
Generally in the 50s right now (wow, and here I am thinking 60s is cool here right now)
Dropping to 40s tonight, then colder with more 30s around tomorrow night.
I'm getting in the mood to light the fire. :-)

They don't keep records of actual frost but go by minimum temps. Since frost happens 33-37 degrees. I used 37 as minimum.
Average first frost is September 9th.
Using Average minimum of 36° its September 13th.
Last year they hit 36 for first time on September 12th.

cool graphic from NWS Burlington. Average is Sept 25th for MPV. The lines on top & bottom of box represent the earliest and latest dates. (Sept 15th earliest freeze at MPV)

Here's the
page of posts from last year around this time. Looks like 90s were around then right to record lows days later.
I'm thinking frost and freeze happened at the same time last year. Not sure.

That is a very cool graphic indeed. I'm not going to lie, I don't remember it getting this cold this fast last year lol...then again, we didn't have a veggie garden yet and I remember last summer being much warmer so maybe I was looking forward to it!!
I processed most of the harvest this weekend but still a lot out there I'd love to get to...just needs a few more days of growing!
