I had over a foot on the ground at my place in Essex County this morning before driving out. The village supposedly hit 16 below or so Friday night but my place only hit 5 below according to my thermometer. My microclimate gives me warmer temps than the surrounding area most of the time. I hope it was enough to get my peach trees through the weekend. The snow was awful thin Friday night for those lows for marginally hardy fruit trees.

Yeah we got about 3" here, and Saturday in general was crazy - squalls one minute, hail followed by sun, rinse, repeat all day lol. Started with snow yesterday morning and then 50 and sunny by 4pm lol. Ahhh love ya Vermont!

Got very smoky here the past few days from the fires burning up in Canada. Having lived out West before, I picked up on the smell of burning vegetation right away. It kicked up my allergies and I noticed a good number of people were coughing at the office today. Over the weekend it was mixed with thick humidity. Unreal how much of the boreal forests are burning right now. Normally it's very damp and mossy up in those parts. Fortunately the rain cleared it out today.

When we first got smoke here from these fires, June 6th 'ish, I developed a respiratory problem that has only now resolved. When the smoke reappeared on Sunday, I closed every window in the house!

Used to live near a lake about ten miles from here, with campgrounds=campfire smoke, had to close windows all the time, have since moved away but still VERY sensitive to wood smoke. My heart always aches for all of the wildlife involved….homes, lives lost, lives ruined…..
