I haven't heard kids in the pool in a long time. 1 neighbor closed it down. Just not getting hot enough. Usually it's after Labor day. I guess they got fed up. LOL Another neighbor complaining about it but continuing to keep it open and maintaining the cold water.

August afternoon and in the 60s/70s in New England. Currently 57° at Montpelier due to clouds and rain. 57??? I would love to experience upper 50s during the day in August. It happened once in 1962. Very extreme.

This has definitely been a weird summer. I'm hoping we can stretch out the warmer days through September...still haven't gotten any eggplants to even get close to ripening stage!

Check out Utah Mountain snow last night...

As far as us... temps not even below freezing at 10,000 feet...pattern favoring the West right now so Mt Washington will have to wait a little longer. Maybe September.

^Thanks for validating my sense of things, as I don't have stats just my anecdotal feelings.

While I don't generally notice differences between years, in terms of seasons, I have strong impression that this summer has not been like previous summers here.
August has definitely been different, more autumnal rather than summer-like. Very surprising to me.
Usually the "it's so hot that I had to take three showers in one day" weather persists well through August, but not this time around.

Tried to look up some interesting stats for this summer at BTV, couldn't find much. Either normal or just not in Top 20.

This summer matched 2009, 2004 and few other years regarding averages

If you want to see past temp departures use this link. On left hand side click Archive and choose your dates. Current Climate Summary Maps - Powered by ACIS - High Plains Regional Climate Center#

Theres single months, then there's 3 month options like November, December, Januarys average.

Keep in mind one thing as you read this... models are doing the dance and flip flopping regarding how strong the cold front and air is after Thursday...

So latest GFS model for BTV says Single Digits(C°) at 4000 foot level and says it's going to be 48° by 8pm Friday. Do I buy it? No. Have to wait and see more models agreeing and GFS showing this more times.

There's another cold shot probably around September 8th too which might be cooler.

Oh... And IF that comes true it would mean 30s for high peaks. Nothing extreme but interesting for end of August. Good time to hike.

So are you guys done with summer or what? It's been brutal last few days. Like a soup bowl.

Here's a look at Some Vermont sites precip numbers for August and the Summer (June, July, August)

Burlington with just 3 90° temp days this year. Last time with 3 or less was 2009, 2008, 2004. In 2000 there were none.
