Did you guys see the record breaking blizzard in New MExico? 6-10 foot snow drifts! They have more snow than 90% of New England ! Palm Trees and snow, Cool!

Looks like by Tuesday 3am its snowing in southern Vermont and by 5am all over the state. So morning commute might be dicey. So Heads up. Changeover if any is tricky. Have to see current observations at the time. Might be mid morning?

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
702 AM EST SUN DEC 27 2015

WATER VAPOR SHOWS A WELL DEFINED TRAIN OF DEEP SUB-TROPICAL
MOISTURE FROM THE MS VALLEY INTO THE NE CONUS AHEAD OF POTENT
CLOSED CYCLONIC SYSTEM LOCATED OVER NORTHERN MEXICO.
MEANWHILE...

AS OF 430 PM EST SUNDAY...OVERNIGHT 1042MB HIGH PRES NOSES INTO
NORTHERN NEW YORK WITH STRONG LOW LEVEL COLD AIR ADVECTION
CONTINUING ON BRISK NORTHWEST WINDS. PROGGED 850MB TEMPS DROP TO
-17C BY 12Z MONDAY WITH 925MB TEMPS NEAR -14C.

AS OF 433 AM EST SUNDAY...FIRST SIGNIFICANT AREAWIDE WINTER WEATHER
EVENT THIS SEASON WILL BE ONGOING TUESDAY MORNING. LOOKING FOR A
MODERATE SNOW OR SNOW TO WINTRY MIX SCENARIO WITH SIGNIFICANT TRAVEL
IMPACTS POSSIBLE TUESDAY MORNING

MODELS REMAIN IN RELATIVELY GOOD AGREEMENT REGARDING THE SYNOPTIC
FEATURES FOR TUESDAY. STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL BE LOCATED
OVER EASTERN QUEBEC AND CANADIAN MARITIMES EARLY IN THE DAY.
MEANWHILE...VERTICALLY STACKED AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL BE LOCATED
OVER CENTRAL GREAT LAKES REGION. THIS LOW THEN MOVES SLOWLY EAST
DURING TUESDAY WITH SECONDARY LOW DEVELOPMENT ALONG SOUTHERN NEW
ENGLAND COAST.

BEST ISENTROPIC LIFT WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL OCCUR TUESDAY MORNING
WHEN STRONG MID LEVEL WARM AIR ADVECTION WILL BE OCCURRING. COLD AIR
WILL BE DIFFICULT TO DISPLACE IN THE LOW LEVELS HOWEVER...GIVEN
STRENGTH OF DEPARTING HIGH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE SECONDARY LOW TO
OUR SOUTH. BUT SOUTHERLY JET OF AROUND 50 KTS WILL RESULT IN ENOUGH
WARMING IN MID LEVELS TO ALLOW FOR A TRANSITION TO A WINTRY MIX FOR
AREAS WEST OF THE GREEN MOUNTAINS. PRECIPITATION EXPECTED TO
CONTINUE AS MAINLY SNOW EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS. PRECIPITATION WILL
ALSO BECOME LIGHTER AS WE LOSE BEST ISENTROPIC LIFT DURING THE
AFTERNOON AND MID LEVEL DRY SLOT WORKS INTO THE REGION. AS MOISTURE
DRIES OUT IN THE SNOW GROWTH LAYER...WE MAY SEE SOME LIGHT
DRIZZLE/FREEZING DRIZZLE. AT THIS TIME LOOKING FOR TOTAL SNOW
AMOUNTS WITH THIS SYSTEM TO RANGE ANYWHERE FROM 3 TO 8
INCHES...WITH SOME LIGHT ICE ACCUMULATION POSSIBLE. THE BULK OF
THE SNOW ACCUMULATION SHOULD OCCUR BY AROUND 18Z TUESDAY. HIGHEST
SNOW TOTALS EXPECTED TO BE EAST OF THE GREEN MOUNTAINS...WITH
LOWEST AMOUNTS IN SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF ST LAWRENCE VALLEY AND
ADIRONDACKS...WHERE MORE OF A MIX IS ANTICIPATED. MAX TEMPS
TUESDAY MOSTLY IN THE UPPER 20S AND LOWER 30S.

Our Lilacs have buds on them while their Palm Trees have snow on them.

And 8 foot snow drifts has been reported. INSANE.

Snowfall forecast total. New link ... Just change the 3 letter office code in the link to see other coverage areas..

Snow should start about 3am? Then change over couple hours after to probably sleet. What a mess.

I'll take it. The cold feels good this morning. We got about an inch or so overnight. The world is a better place with some snow!
