we are relocating to Vancouver, WA in a few weeks and thinking to rent a duplex first. We are looking into the area near the new Fred Myers store close to E Mill Plain Blvd. Is the area safe for kids? And in convenience wise?

I'm not aware of a new FM on east Mill Plain, need a cross street or another landmark.

there is a FM on Chkalov its been there about 30 yrs. That area is ok, and better than the area on the west side of I-205 (Walmart) that area is less desirable, but many more rentals. Were lived nearby on 112th AVE and NE 9th st (Near Fircrest School. (East of I-205)) many years ago. It was decent for a rental area.

Basically east of I-205 is decent excluding Orchards & 5 corners (between 4th plain and 76th St, which is slightly less than decent, but still OK)

Evergreen is cool too, albeit far away from the mall and "downtown". I like it still.

Default New Fred Myers?

My wife is a manager for Fred Meyers. She has recently transferred to the newest Fred Meyers that is on Grand down by SR-14 and replaced the one on Fourth Plain. This area has some nice older homes with bigger lots, but the schools are not necessarily the preferred ones. The farther east you go you get out of the Vancouver SD and into the Evergreen SD which is more desired by many than the Vancouver SD. It all depends on courses and exactly what you are looking for in your school.

I like Freddie's. Way different from anything in Cali. I like the "one stop" concept, like an old fashioned general store. Convenient!
