Virginia Beach has multiple Burger Kings and Starbucks. This city has neither, although BK will expand there in 2013 and there are two stores selling Starbucks (but not Starbucks-owned locations).

ETA: Clues: Home to a minor league baseball team with a non-traditional name that produced a hall of famer who is perhaps best known for hitting over 500 homers as a switch hitter. A very long highway passes through town but the speed limit is 35 mph throughout - this road is for enjoying the scenery, not for speed. It was the home to author Thomas Wolfe and also a pioneer of electronic music by the name of Robert Moog.

The beach and vegetation suggests temperate climate, and the architecture suggests Pan-Pacific. I'll take a wild guess at Wollongong, NSW? Or am I in the wrong hemispheres?
