This line connects the major cities of the Virginia Black Belt.
This is something that bugs me about all too many transit maps. And that is, they bear absolutely no geographic resemblance to the area that their system is serving. This map here looks absolutely NOTHING like the shape of the Commonwealth of Virginia. If I didn't recognize the names of the stations, and someone asked me what area this map represented, I'd say "I don't know. Someplace square, I guess. Certainly couldn't be Virginia."
Would it really kill today's graphic designers to at least make an effort to draw their lines with some reference to the geography that they're trying to represent?
(And I'm not criticizing the poster whom I'm quoting, but rather whoever it was that drew this map, and all too many others like it.)
