I prefer Glasgow, it's prettier. To be honest though both are similar in many aspects.

Both cities are retail meccas, and they have the largest amount of retail outside London.

Birmingham is one of the driest cities in the UK with less then 700mm while Glasgow receives over 1000mm.. Birmingham is protected by the Welsh Mountains.

It might help if the OP were to tell us what some of his (?) interests were, or some other factor that might help us pass on any relevant info.

Wow, seems everyone is saying Glasgow over Birmingham, does anyone prefer Birmingham over Glasgow?

I've also heard that Glasgow has more jobs and they're higher paying, since I'll be moving with my family, can anyone confirm that? For me it'll be the same job with the same money in either city, but if my family has more opportunity in one city than the other, then it would be a big advantage.

There is a strong Scottish contingency here, hence the info on Glasgow. I don't think there's anyone from Brum.

I used to visit both cities quite a lot in the past. Brum was far easier to get around by car than say London and there were some nice areas such as Edgbaston. It's not my favourite place and the accent is, for me at least, an acquired taste.

There has over the last couple of decades been a renewal of the arts scene with the building of the Symphony Hall. My daughter has sung at one of the main venues in the centre and the public spaces were nice.

Really I'm not the person to say unless you want a run down on the teaching hospitals!
