I have always wanted to seek advice of a fortune-teller on some personal issues. I saw an advertisement on Craigslist.

Has anybody been using the help of a tarot fortune-teller? What is your opinion on fortune-telling in general? Can you recommend someone?

Did once long ago. Epic fail unfortunately. Set some goals and create your OWN destiny. As for a Craigslist fortune teller-Skip it. Craigslist is great for household goods, some jobs and apts being very careful and weeding out the scams. Awful for dates and people purporting to tell your future. nothing worse then waking up in a bathtub full of ice missing a kidney from people on that site. Kidneys are important.

It is best to stay away from Craigslist. If you insist on going to a Tarot reader find one who is local who has a good reputation. If you are unaware of what you are doing then I suggest you do not go, Tarot reading just like any other type of reading is not for everyone.
If I may ask what sort of personal issues you are referring to, direct message me if you like I may be able to help but no guarantees.

Yeah, of course, I’m aware of the risks. I don’t plan to meet. I plan to do it online. I’ve seen many ads offering online fortune-telling. I was much more worried about the impact it can have on my life in general no matter whether the prediction is true or fake.

My suggestion is still to not participate if you have any doubts or fears of what repercussions there may be, in my opinion any reputable Tarot reader or Psychic would not do a reading if they were aware of your doubts and concerns. Personally I would not do one for you either and I am a Spirit Medium as well as Psychic.

I read Tarot as a hobby for many years. I can't understand how someone could do a good job online.

You can't predict the future with Tarot much, only influences. I was, however able to warn a coworker that I saw influences for a car accident (which happened the following week) and let a person know that he was being betrayed by his girlfriend. (He was)

I stopped doing it years ago. It seemed to me like I mostly saw negative things. Who needs more negativity?

Yes I am a Tarot Reader and I have read for over 35 years. I believe that the cards can offer an excellent insight into a specific situation or a broad view to likely trends in the next three to six months.
I think that we have free will though and I think that if, for example an accident seems in the offing, there are ways to g=head this off and the same would go for an acquirement with a supervisor at work that could result in the loss of your job. This might be time ti be a bit mellow or to drive more carefully, as the case may be.

The words "Fortune Teller" do not sit well with me because of this and the fact that many people who call themselves this, tend to be incompetent or worse scam artists.

I would not look for a reader on Craig's list. I would try to get a referal from another, or if that's not possible, check out New Age Shops and publications.

Best of luck to you in your search.

Tarot is a very 'safe' means of spiritual council when done by the right person.
I have been reading tarot for over 20 years ad I have been doing long distance readings, (online) for 15.
Some readers do only phone or face to face, others can do reading over long distances without the person present.
Each reader has their own strengths and weaknesses as well. It is best to get to know a reader before you have them read for you.
Like Sheena, 'fortune teller' is a term that has lost its charm. Most tarot readers are not fortune tellers and not all readers are declared psychics.
If you are looking for advice and direction and a different perspective in a situation, tarot is wonderful!
If you are looking for a yes no answer, you won't exactly get it.
Tarot likes to 'talk'. The cards have a story to tell, they (the reader) will never tell you things in absolutes because the future is always changing. However, a reading can express that if things keep going the way they are- the person continues what they are doing, then the likelihood of 'X' happening, as seen in the cards is a high probability.

I would never go to Craigslist, or a 'psychic network' type website. Look for independent individuals who are doing readings
(like Sheena and myself).
Because there are the scams out there, even independent readers, and steer clear of those who ask too many questions.
I prefer to know less so that what I get from the cards is pure in its message and not some twist to make it fit. Even knowing a small, seemingly irrelevant piece of information can color the reading around it.

I learned tarot initially because I thought it'd be fun at parties. My first practice predicted my wife changing jobs soon and it came true. Next was not to invest anymore in my business. Those, and most of them since have been very accurate. I've been at it for years now. Try learning it for yourself and do your own readings. The hard part is to stay objective and not alter what you see to what you want to see. I can't get times or dates, but the final outcome is mostly correct.

I read at parties and a good time is always had by all. Party readings are accurate as the reader is good but they will never be as good as one on one readings.

They are a good way to find a reader who is good. However she reads at the party will be better in a private reading. The cost is less and thus the risk is less.

So it's a good way to find - or rule out, a reader.
