claim expires, but still a remaining balance (extension, receive, apply)

I am in san Francisco and at the end of the regular UI claim,
I received the continued claim with one week paid the second week no paid because "claim expires 11-9-2013".
few weeks ago, after reading the edd website i though that the renew would have been automatically.
What do I have to do in order to apply for the extension (tier 1) and what is going to happen to my balance, 900$ ?
