Asia Exhibit: Coming in 2011 - Oklahoma City Zoo

When the elephants return to the Oklahoma City Zoo, their new home will be part of the largest exhibit in Zoo history.

Plans call for the $23 million Asia-themed exhibit to open in 2011 with plenty of different habitats that they can enjoy. The spacious exhibit will provide multiple diverse habitats for elephants including grassy knolls, shade trees, dust-bathing areas, scratching trees, mud wallows and swimming holes to enjoy. The design will support the physical and psychological needs of elephants and will be home to family groups of elephants.

Other animals that may call the Asia habitat their home include greater one-horned rhinoceros, Komodo dragon, Sumatran orangutans, siamangs, sloth bears and various birds, amphibians and fish-all species native to Asia."

I'm happy to hear about THIS ..and the LAST..SHALL BE FIRST....that
has a very good ring to it...And Tulsa Zoo Was Nationally Ranked To..
So Hats Off To Both Oklahoma City And Tulsa.....

OK, only the positives, huh? We do like Tulsa and many things about it. We've never been to OKC, but I would love to see Bricktown some day AND their gorgeous enclosed tropical paradise. Tulsa is a bit smaller so that's a plus, but I'm sure OKC is a wonderful city.

Howest, do you miss Tulsa?

AWWW, sorry to hear that you aren't where you'd like to be. On the flip side, you probably have nicer weather in your current location.

Will you be able to move back to Tulsa in the future?

You know what? Money isn't everything even though many people still think it is. If you can make enough to eke out a living in Tulsa and that's where you're happy~you may want to reconsider your plans.

Where I grew up around Gerty we didn't have as much of the red dirt; mostly dark soil. The red dirt seems to be more prevalent in the central section of the state. Having lived outside of Oklahoma now for more than half my life, it still amazes me when approaching OkC on I35 at the abundance of the stuff. It's really bright, bright red.
