Nissan Versa beat out the Yaris recently in Consumer Reports. Honda Fit is solid. That Feista looks like it's going to shake things up though in the subcompact category.
I had a Focus back in 2001. Good little car. But they don't come in hatch any longer, so that sucks too.
I don't understand car manufacturers. They have a great body style and then they get rid of it. Go figure.

That was Ford's BIGGEST flop was ditching the hugely popular and excellent handling Focus h/b. They then gave us the current coupe and sedan. BLECH. It was uninspired, ugly, soft-handling, and bland inside. The current Focus lost ALL of the unique traits that made the 1st gen so much fun. But, they listened to the screaming customers and ****-poor reviews the current Focus gets and are bringing back the hatch. BUT NO RS AND ONLY IN 5 DOOR TRIM.
For whatever reason, companies think the US market doesn't want hatchbacks. In the UK/Europe companies like Ford and Honda, etc... have 2/3 and 4/5 door hatches. Here they are sold as coupes and sedans.
In about mid 2010 when Ford rolls out the Fiesta hatchback, Mazda will start selling the Mazda 2. It is a close cousin of the Fiesta since Ford and Mazda share a lot of car technology. Both about the same size and similar engine. The MazdaUSA dot com webpage shows a Mazda 2 in a 2/3 door hatch and a 4/5 door hatch. Worth waiting a few months to check out.
Buy a corolla and be done with it, you'll never regret it. 0% for 60 month's with sketchy credit.
