Take an express trip with the GO Bus service to Niagara Falls and have a picnic there for a day. Visit Chinatown, you could get a meal for under $10 there. You could visit the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum). Plenty of hot dog stands in the city for your food needs. It can be quite easy to sightsee cheap but you'll have to look around.

Enjoy your trip to our city. I am doing something for our apartment building on things to do so here are some ideas:

You may be familiar with the citypass. Different large cities have multiplace tickets for area attractions. Looking there for Toronto, today, it looks to be a good value.

CN tower (one of the highest viewing platforms in the world)
Toronto Zoo
Casa Loma (castle and gardens)
Ontario Science Museum
ROM (Royal Ontario museum)

For 56 us dollars.

Visit the CN tower during the international air show 5th-7th. I suspect you will get a great view. At 12:30 it starts.

Visit the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) for free Wed evenings. It is in Chinatown which is cheap eats.

Thursday Eve go to the harbourfront centre for a free concert OR
attend the free hot and spicy festival the 4-7th. Workshops, presentations, music, market...

The Gardiner Museum (near the ROM) is half price Friday EVE.
BUT then so is the ROM that night. You could do a nice day in that area.
During the day go to the ROM, you can walk around the University of Toronto Campus which is right next to it with some great old buildings if you like to take pictures, spend some time at the Gardiner. Then to eat.. head north on Queen park/ avenue road and go a few blocks to the whole food market. Go to the produce area and you will find they make pizza fresh -to go- in an oven while you wait. If the weather is good go back down Avenue to cumberland street and not yet a block down you will see the yorkville park. Great place to eat and people watch in an affluent area.

And the end of the trip is the international film festival. Free things, at the downtown yonge/dundas square, start on the 10th. Check out TIFF - Toronto International Film Festival - What to See (http://tiff.net/visitingtoronto/whattosee - broken link)
