Bingo. I've seen significantly more on the far west side, near Potranco and 1604, most likely because of Lackland. It's not like they don't exist here though, as it is a large city with all kinds of folks, so among every other variety of people, you'll see black people from time-to-time, even if they are a small minority. It's a little odd for me sometimes just because I grew up around a lot of black people in Louisiana. I will say I see a lot at the Acadiana Cafe near Marbach and 410, probably because many are from Louisiana like I am, and are looking for some good food from the homeland! Now I want some fried catfish...

Houston has more blacks than Dallas? I thought it was the other way around. I think San Antonio is at least as family oriented as Houston. Families from Houston go to San Antonio for vacation! Hispanic families anyway...... I am not sure what a progressive black culture is, but there are a lot of cool, successful black folks here. As far as black people in San Antonio, I personally don't see many black people in San Antonio. It is like seeing a white person in Brownsville. But San Antonio is much, much cleaner than Houston, and downtown is waaaaaaay cooler.

Houston has more Blacks in number I think, but it's also a larger city. The percentage of Blacks is actually higher in Dallas.

Downtown San Antonio is very touristy. I got married there, and it's a great place to visit. But I would never call it "cooler" than Houston, it just doesn't have the same depth, variety or status.

Staying in the south side of the DFW area; you'd think Dallas was the blackest city in the country lol

Because Dallas' city limits are smaller. Houston is still the blacker city.

I have not spent enough time in SA to say overall if it is cooler, but SA does have 6 Flags, Sea World, The River Walk and Houston has........

Downtown SA however easily trumps downtown Houston.

You constantly insist these other places are so much better than Houston, then we find out you're inexperienced with these other places.

I'm not sure how. The Riverwalk and these other things you mention, like I said, are touristy. We're talking about relocation here, not vacation destinations.

Neither The Riverwalk or much of DT San Antonio is all that touristy. The area is very popular with the locals, as well. I too think DT SA is better than Houston's. If not for the history, just for the ambiance and general activity you can see at different times of the day.

San Antonio, TX - SkyscraperPage Forum
I'm quite familiar with downtown San Antonio. To me (and many others I know) it's just a better place to visit than to live. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
