No and yes somewhat. I am a minority. I lived in Orange until 2000 and was all over the Golden Triangle all the time, including Vidor, and with black friends. I will say this - Vidor is much, much safer than Beaumont or Port Arthur. Now if you are black, you would probably feel uncomfortable in Vidor. That is true. But nobody is going to threaten your life or anything like that. There ARE black families living in Vidor now. It IS slowly changing, but these things don't go away overnight.

Good point. I've heard the same things about Conroe and Santa Fe.

I don't think you can compare the woodlands to Vidor.

I see these types of questions over and over again on here and I think they are silly if not downright stupid. The active KKK probably consists of only a few thousand members NATIONWIDE. It's not a big deal.

As far as Vidor is concerned, I don't think I've been there but I did know a girl from college who was from there and a bit of a redneck so take it for what it's worth.

I am white and worked in Beaumont, TX. a little over ten years ago. The man who trained me for the job was an older black man who had lived in Vidor all his life. I asked him about this and he said he didnt see much racism there, but he was also a very positive man that only seemed to see the best in people. He did say that where I was living was more racist which at the time was Liberty TX. From what I observed he was correct. The whole "east" side (east of Houston) seems to be more racist then the other surrounding areas of Houston.
Where I work now almost all the employees speakdisparaging of other non-white races except within earshot! Another reason I want to move from this area!
