Hello,

My husband and I are relocating South (near the ocean).
We are living in WI right now and can't take this weather any longer. I spent most of my younger years in Dallas and miss it but I was wondering about some cities near the ocean? (Houston, Galveston, ect.) I would really love to hear the good and the bad. So many people leave negative comments I want to hear positive too. There's got to be some good. I did a cost comparison and know we will do alright financially. I want to know about weather, culture, people, food, activites, ect.

thank you

You are coming from two dry climate places. You sure you want to live in the humid climate?

Galveston is a bit beaten up right now, but it is recovering as fast as possible. If you wan to look toward Houston there are plenty of nce areas between Galveston and Houston i.e. Clear Lake, League City, etc. The big issue you need to address is a job. You really need to know where you will be working before you decide where to live. The commute in the Houston area can be a real bear if you are unprepared for it. Part of preparing is deciding the right place to live.

The humidity, heat, and hurricanes would be a great concern for me. In fact, it wouldn't happen. It's bad enough in central Texas where I live.

You are wise Canine*Castle. I am living in a tiny Fema trailer, right now, because of the hurricanes..sweating because of the humidity and heat as I type. And it's early Feb.

Ugh! I just changed my status today regarding it being humid again, but I know in central Texas it's not as bad as down south. I hate it, it feels awful, and that's why I love Winter in my part of Texas when it stays BELOW 60 degrees.

How about New Mexico where the air is dry?

No, it has to be where my husband can transfer to...no company there. But you're thinking!

how about San Antonio? You have the city life but less than 2 hours from the beaches. I was just there two days ago and if there is a recession going on, nobody told them! the riverwalk was packed as was just about every tourist attraction. It's a beautiful city and a lot of smaller towns around it.
just a thought
