A general question many potential transplants ask about Texas is: Will they care/accept our race/sexual orientation/religion/political beliefs/personal hobbies?

And the general answer is that Texans will be tolerant of such things, if not accepting, because most Texan's have a "live and let live attitude".

It seems to many "foreigners" (hehe Texas joke), they have the impression that Texans, particularly rural or conservative ones, have a "stuck up" attitude about other peoples' lifestyles and beliefs.

Yet people say that there isn't any more of that than there is in major "liberal" cities like NYC, Chicago, LA, etc. In fact, most of them say that Texans are easy-going than many people from those places.

So if that's true, why are us Texans so laid back?

Is the weather so hot that we're so cool?

Interestingly, many Oklahomans from the Oklahoma forum say that Oklahomans are also very laid back and tend to be "live and let live".

So I guess Texans being all "stuck up Southerners" is another false stereotype of Texas?

Over 4 dozen posts were deleted above. This was a first for me in about 3 years of moderating here. After post 1, nothing in this thread was on topic for this thread or this forum. It's probably safe to assume that would happen again if the thread were reopened, which is why it's not being reopened.
