Lightbulb Laguna Vista - up and coming small town

This is probably a bit late, but incase it can still help...

Laguna Vista is nice - great real estate opportunity and new Golf club/resort. Port Isabel is just 2 minutes down the road and has the Super Walmart and restaurants. These both provide very, very small-town living, but Brownsville and Harlingen are near enough to meet what needs are not met by these smaller towns. South Padre Island is the nicest beach TX has and is just over the bridge from Port Isabel.

We sold my grandmother's ocean front house in Port Isabel last year. Sigh, many nice memories growing up there...used to get up in the morning, eat cereal, then head out with my grandfather on his little boat and go bay fishing. Memories...memories...they don't make 'em like that anymore.

I love Port Isabel. The lighthouse and all the shops were nice. I would like to open a business there someday.

Isn't that area prone to severe damage including great flooding if and when a hurricane hits head on? There is virtually no high ground there.

Yea, the whole coastal area of the USA. Oh well, everyone is moving in droves to the coastal areas.

Default loved visiting there

My grandparents lived in Laguna Vista and my grandfather had a radio repair business in Port Isabel, this was a great place to visit and i was sorry when they retired and moved away, that was in the early 70's and Laguna Vista wasn't much more than 5 or 6 blocks of developed real estate, guess it's grown a bit since then.
