I am looking for a teaching position in Port Isabel, TX or any close surrounding area. My second option is to teach in Brownsville, but I would rather cut as much driving as possible out of my commute to work. I know it is a small community, and the availability of teaching positions open may be slim, but I figured I'd at least try. If anyone has any pointers, or tips on who to contact, all advice would be much appreciated. If I do land a job in Port Isabel, my next question would be if anyone knows of any reasonably priced apt. complexes in Port Isabel, TX? I am having the most difficult time finding enough information online on either of these topics.

Thank all of you who take the time to respond to this.

Pt. Isabel is tiny and I don't think there's much of a long-term rental market. People rent out homes by the week or month to tourists, of course, but I don't recall seeing many nice apartment complexes there. You might want to try Los Fresnos or Laguna Vista.

Don't know how the teaching opportunities are. I was certified in secondary English and Pt. Isabel usually had openings because people moved on a lot but I don't know if it's still like that. They didn't pay as well as other districts in the area. The most openings anywhere in the Valley are in elementary/bilingual ed.
